I have a real nice pair of SDA-1 speakers with the instruction manual that I'm thinking of selling. My question is, how much should these speakers be worth? Where is the best place to advertise this type of an item? Many thanks in advanced for the info. Jeff

Similar to the "blue" book for auto, there is a "blue" book for electronic items as well. Most of high fi electronic stores and pawn shops have this book. The book shows the AVERAGE trade-in, low and high retail values.

First off, in a lot of cases, the Blue Book doesn't cut it with a lot of the SDA speakers that are sold/bought. I'm not saying don't consult it, just don't take it as gospel.

The only hitch I can see in your paticular SDA case, is the SDA-1s, if that is indeed the EXACT model of your speakers (are your sure they aren't 1As '84-'85 or 1Bs '87 or 1Cs '88-'90?) are the oldest of the SDAs ('82-'83). This would tend to make them more appealing to a "collector" than a "user". ( The original 1s and the 1As had the tweeters set in a SDA array, or horizontal, rather than the newer and final stye of non-SDA array, or verticle style.)

Go to ebay and look up speakers, Polk, and see the finished auctions. See if other SDA-1s have been auctioned off and if so, what they went for. This might give you some idea.

    BTW and VERY important:
You failed to mention what the condition of the speakers are, (cosmetics & function) and whether or not you have the neccesary SDA interconnect cord for them.

The speakers I have are either 1s or 1A's. the condition is excellent ,both in operating and cosmetics with only minor top scuffs from pictures and such being placed on them. This is only surface scuffs or more like paint from the picture frames. Could be cleaned with the right solvent. I use these speakers as they are in our den with all the audio/video equipment and I do have the interconnect cable in place. As a clue, the stickers on the back are as follows, (right) R SDA IA 2472 and the (left) L SDA IA 2549. Thanks for the help. Jeff

Where to advertise? That depends on whether you want to make the most cash, or find a nice home for your speaks. Most cash? E-bay. Nice home? Right here on the Polk Flea Market. Show us you're family. Looking forward to seeing them for sale on the Polk Forum.

It is POTENTIALLY in bad taste, to come here looking for tips on how to make the MOST money. Especially if one has no intention of selling to the people providing sales info. Not saying this is your intention, but it has happened before, and was NOT well received.

How much would you be asking for these? I appreciate your reply in advance.

Jeff, I am in the market for these speakers. Do you still have and want to sell them?
    Thanks, Ron

It sends the crosstalk cancelling info from one speaker to the other.

Whoa, talk about reviving a thread from the past. That's GOT to be some kind of record. I was reading along thinking that George and Bob McG were back!

ATC, the SDA's that you have, am I to infer that you do not have the SDA interconnect cable?
