Boy it kinda sucks to have to obtain minimum posting status just to be able to talk to people about buying a sl2000 tweeter from the flea market here on the club polk forums! Who's idea was that?

He could have just started a thread outside the FM, asking nicely to buy a sl2000

    Maybe something like...

"Hey all, I'm very new here, I'm in great need of a sl2000 and I was told this was an awsome place and that if anyone could help me out it would be you all, I appologize for having my first thread about buying something from you all, but could you please help a fellow Polk owner?

    Thanks

    John"

Guy's, I was just 'testing'... I didn't think it mattered what I wrote or that anyone read these... 'tests'. At that moment last night for the 1st time in my life I was blocked from making a potential purchase simply by being new... seemed 'forign' to me, since even sites like 'ebay' let you buy something right off the bat. There probably is a 'read this if your new' post somewhere but I didn't see it. There was nothing on craig's list that said 'we're sorry, you must list ten more things for sale before we'll let you contact this person to purchse the item they are selling that you want really badly'... Sorry.

Plus, I was... drinking... a lot.

I just purchased a pair of SDA II's from a friend a week ago... (the original model with two tweeters, three mids and one woofer)... I had just hooked them... wow. After listining to Santana's oya comova (however you spell it), I actually started to cry after the song was over. Simply, amazing. I didn't care about my neighbors at that moment, just turned my Sony STR-DE675 up to about 40 or so and closed my eyes. (It probably made me more emotional since I'm drinking shots of quervo as well :-)

I noticed, however the more I listened to them that the right side sounded louder than the left. No matter what the source audio was, the right side just seems louder than the left. I figured wiring or the interconnect cable was to blame.. double checked thoese and all looked good.

I found an owner's maniual for every model other than the original SDA II's on the web... I read the troubleshooting sections in both the SDA I's and IIB, C's anyway about the sections on troubleshooting.. said you should be able to close your eyes and hear the sound IN THE CENTER between the speakers.

I decided to try and see if I could tell if a speaker was blown. On the right speaker I found one SL1000 (the right one of the two tweeters), and the left tweeter was a SL2000.... On the left speaker both were SL2000's. Eeeek, to say the least.

I swapped the two tweeters in the left speaker (the speaker that seemed quieter) and bang.. music was louder! So I figured that I needed two SL2000's, one for the blown spot, and one to replace that mysterious SL1000.

I e-mailed Polk, the lady said that if I join the 'club' I can get a discount from them and free shipping. When I was on the forum I saw someone was selling a pair, and when I went to ask them if they were still available the website told me I didn't have enough posts to ask tht question... Grrrr.

I e-mailed polk back today asking what tweeters were originally to be in the 'original' SDA II's, was it the SL1000's, 2000's, or a blend of both? Also I asked her about those silk ones all you are talking about. I forget what you call them, rdo's or something.

So anyway, yes I'm a newb. I didn't know why you guy's were so serious about this minimum posting thing. I was drinking. And I'm Sorry.

Yes, looks like my speakers, but all my tweeters are black. Yet I swore that one tweeter said SL1000... I'm pulling it out right now to double check!

Yep... It says SL1000 and the faceplate is black. However someone put blue ink pen line marks over the model number.. I collect stamps and if this speaker was an old stamp it might be worth something :-)

So, from this picture you are telling me that the original tweeters were the SL1000's, and I have all SL2000's (save for the special one!).
