Given that the 980 was just introduced, there's now a thread at avsforum.com regarding an upcoming universal player from Oppo that will pack in SOTA video processing.

They should join forces with Toshiba to come out with a universal with HD-DVD capability.
I just can't see spending $150 - $200 on an upconverting Oppo when HD-DVD players are now $200 - $250, unless you want SACD playback more than the best picture available.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand
Bedroom: Samsung HPR-4252, Toshiba HD-A2, HK 3480, Signal Cable, AQ speaker cable, Totem Dreamcatchers, SVS PB10-NSD, URC MX-850 -

I guess I fall into the camp that would rather have the good sound quality than I would video quality. Even being a manufacturers rep for various home A/V lines, I still don't care about buying an HD or BlueRay machine. It just isn't that important to me since I don't spend a lot of time with my HT stuff. But, again, that's just me.Richard? Who's your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa? Or is it........................Spanky?.................................Sinner.
