Looking to upgrade center
I currently have a cs300 with RT800 fronts. I've been very happy with my setup for years and still really like the RT800s. However we have moved into a larger home where the viewing/listening distance is about 17 feet (don't worry...tv is huge). So I'm wondering if it would help to upgrade the center for better performance at that distance. If I do upgrade I'd like the difference to be very noticeable or I'm incline to stay with what I have. Suggestions?

There are two things here:
One is the center channel. The CS300 is by no means a poor performer, but there are higher performance, or higher out-put models out there. My favorite center with the RT800s (Which is the set-up I had for a long time), is the CS350. (Sorry about the bad picture) The speaker holds five drivers and is 26" long! Bottom line is it sounds great, has amazing output, and matches the drivers well in the RT800s.
Second is the power supply. What are you powering the CS300 with? A receiver or an amplifier? How much power is it getting? Receivers for the most part can be lower in watt and ampere output. The more, clean power you are putting to a speaker, the better it can perform. And a lot of the time that comes from an amplifier and preamp combo.
I feel that you would notice a difference over the CS300 with a new center, especially if you fed it a good power supply. I know that when I got my CS350, I watched a lot of movie just so I could sit and listen to it.
I hope that this was helpful and not too confusing. I can be a little wordy sometimes...
