Just curious if anyone here has used Helio cell service. From what I can tell it should be a very good service for a reasonable price. Seems they use a combination of Sprint and Verizon towers with the preference being Sprint. I got to play around with a demo phone today that was WAY cool. It was the Ocean model that is a dual slider. It's a little bulky, but worth it considering all the features. Plus the GPS feature that integrates with Google Maps is amazing. I could not believe the image quality of the satellite images.

Anyway....anyone here using it? Just curious if I should even bother trying it.

Later.

I wasn't expecting an overwhelming response, but I thought for sure that at least a few people here would have some experience with Helio.

OK so I decided to try out Helio. I've been out of contract with Verizon for a while now, and with Helio's 30 day satisfaction guarantee I figured I had nothing to lose if I didn't like it. However....so far I must say it is pretty sweet! Calls have been crystal clear, have not yet had a dropped call, and the messaging and e-mail options are awesome.

Their selection of phones is pretty slim, but in their defense, all of their phones are really cool. I personally got the Ocean and can't believe how much I like it. Very easy to use, yet powerful. It's nice to have a phone that I can put 3rd party software on.

I am anxious to see how the coverage is when i get out of my home area. If all goes well I should be able to test that out in the next couple of days.

Anyway. For anyone who is not currently under a contract I would heavily recommend giving Helio a try.

I work with one of my old Sprint Nextel buddies and he loves his Helio, as its his main POC phone number. I'd have to say that the idea is really cool for this area as coverage is almost rock solid. The major markets should be great but the fringe stuff should be almost the same.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I wish you could get their phones without the service, the Ocean looks like a cool device.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

So I took the plunge. Just added the wife and mother-in-law to the plan. This company seems to have some real potential. Very reasonable prices and more features for the money. To get similar features through Verizon would have cost me about $40 more per month.

These guys are really worth trying out. Take advantage of the 30 day trial. What have you got to lose?
