Niles Audio HD-LCS IN-Wall Loudspeaker - 9/10 - White - *POOF!*
This is a great pair of in-walls that I originally purchased for my uncle and recently found out he never hooked up. He didn't want to tell me but when he asked me about some new Polk in-walls......
Anyways, they were installed by me and the wires were run for connection but they have never seen signal or played music. It was a spare bedroom application so it was simply not a high priority. I would imagine that the soft dome tweeter in this series has got to sound better than the newer one, but I'm a "Silk is King" kinda guy.
The HD-LCS was eventually replaced by the HD-LCR. It added an adjustable tweeter and the mid-bass drivers have a different cone design but dimensionally are identical. The crossover is different between the models but the build quality is high on both series. Unless you have an odd install, directional tweeters are not much of a concern but I certainly see the value in the design idea.
The frames and grills were painted some ugly tan color, so I sanded and repainted them in a Krylon Satin White(#7791) to compliment modern decor. Here are some...
SPECIFICATIONS
Impedance: 4 Ohms
Recommended Amplifier Power: 10W To 150W
Frequency Response: 65Hz – 21kHz +/-3dB
Sensitivity: 89dB With 2.83V Pink Noise Input, Measured At 1 Meter On Axis
Frame Dimensions: 8-1/4" X 14-1/2"
Hole Cutout Dimensions: 7-1/8' X 13-1/4'
Depth Behind Wall: 3-1/2" (assumes 1/2' Drywall)
They also utilize individual bass and treble controls, +/-3dB, for basic room correction.
You can mount these with or without the subframe. The subframe for behind the wall is available from any Niles Audio dealer. I would suggest that you toss in a roll of acoustic batten or polyfill behind the speaker prior to mounting, either way.
They will be professionally packed by Rancho de Audio LLC and shipped to withstand a nuclear blast.
If you have any questions or comments, you may contact me at any time, day or night. We can exchange personal information prior to completion of the sale.
Thanks for reading.
