My amp runs @ 20 degrees cooler running my RTA 11t's than my SDA 2B's.

RTA 11t's @ 90 F
SDA 2B's @ 110 F

I thought that was pretty significant.

I thought that 2B's were 8 ohm compatible. I could be wrong and such as.

Those SDA's obviously require a lot more power! COOL.

IIRC, they are labelled as 8 ohm compatible, but are 6 ohm nominally.

I think it has to do with the SDA cable. With my SDA 1C's my amp is warmer at idle than when I had my LSi 9's and runs about as hot as when I play them above a normal listening level. The SDA cable puts a bit more strain on the negative side of the amplifier. Nothing to worry about if you have a nice robust amplifier, if not then time will tell. It's not *always* about nominal impedence rating.

I've had my Outlaw monoblocks funning at full blast for an hour and the things barely feel warmer then room temp! On the flip side, my Onkyo 805 using full preouts will be so hot that I cant even leave my hand on it.

The Outlaw mono's are class H amps so if they get hot you have a problem ;).

Really depends on the class of your amp and on technology used in the amp, as someone mentioned.

i.e. My MOSFET-based Adcom is Class A at low power, and class AB at higher power. If I let it idle, it does get very warm (class A).

On the other hand my BJT-based HK amp (not sure of class of amplifier) always runs stone cold (the heatsinks on main transistors are cool).
