Yes actually they do oversample something on the order of 128x .They shift the noise to very high frequencies.
Also I suspect you are meaning when you say DSD you are refering to Delta Sigma not Direct Stream Digital (sacd)AS they are different beasts. While DSD is a 1bit process not all 1 bit or Delta Sigma Dac's can process the DSD data.

Also oversamling should not be confused with upsampling as they there is important differences between the two.

Wrong oversampling has nothing to do with jitter reduction. Most jitter is created by a mis-match between the sending clock and recieving clock during conversion.

The second statement is also not true, although there are probably some very nice sounding dac's that use no oversampling. My guess is they use another form of filtering as there is some nasty stuff at 44.1kHz. I'm also pretty sure that 1 bit DSD type converters don't use oversampling. The DSD type dac's are a completely different type of design than std ladder type converters.

I'm sorry to be so lazy but I have covered all this before in other posts and I'm not going to rehash it all again. Search, it's here somewhere. ;)

Well, there we go. Guess we're all still learning. I was garnering my opinion from: http://www.audioholics.com/education/audio-formats-technology/upsampling-vs-oversampling-for-digital-audio

Regardless, my dac still sounds pretty good. Still worth a listen, especially at the price range you're aiming for.
Lovin that music year after year.

Sorry,I figured that would be assumed as this is an internet forum. I've always questioned everything I read. Good lesson for everyone . . . in this forum and everywhere else.

question i have is the volume control thats on there. does it control just the headphone jack output and wont be used when i use the balanced outputs??

also should i get the modified one or just the stock one?
