First Day of Fall (sigh)

Summer has offically ended. But, the weather here in Western PA has been outstanding. I enjoy the Fall weather. Cooler temps, dry, the brilliant colors of the foilage. But soon that gives way to raking leaves, cold weather, long hours of darkness and the dreaded snow!:(

It was a good Summer for my garden, which occupies a lot of my free time during the Summer evenings. I thought I'd share a few photos of this year's garden. I hope that you enjoy!

You have a beautiful back yard!

I am personally more than ready for Fall and Winter. The summers here in Savannah are absolutely sweltering with 90+ degree weather and unbelievably humid. Overall almost completely unbearable to be outside so I am welcoming the fall with open arms.

excellent Carl, I know what you will be doing at the fest. I will get the plantings ready for your green thumb........

It had cooled off nicely about a week ago, but it is warm in Ga. again, I still think it will be nice weather for the fest though.

It was 10-20 degrees below normal the past two weeks.... and now this week, the first week of fall, is supposed to nudge up to 90. Go figure.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Fall in Dallas is a good thing. The mornings cool down, and the highs fall back into the 80's.
At least that's what the weatherman is showing for the end of the week.
I also look forward to the pollen count to drop down.
Right now, even my dog is sneezing.

awesome looking grass. i cant wait for fall in St. lOuis and the rains. i just replanted seed in my yard and have been waking up at 5:30 to water the seed in before i go to work. now that the seed is germinating i can just switch to watering in the evenings. still need rain to come and i need to start cutting the established grass but am afraid to do that for fear of running the new grass.

This year was cold for us over here. We usually have 15ish 90+ days and this year we had like 3! Then again, they say el nino is rearing its head and the ocean temps down there by Peru are 7 degrees cooler then they should be. They are saying this will give us on the Pacific coast a stormier winter with more mountain snow.

Good thing is that my yard and garden did absolutely great this year! I had 3 tomato plants that just wont stop producing. My 4 zucchini plants grew something like 30. Its getting colder now (sunny in the upper 60's) so I can see the plants starting to have problems.

Would have had a ton of cucumbers this year but my black lab is a vegetation or something and kept going down there and eating them off the vine.

Hey guys, thanks for all the kind comments. I enjoy gardening almost as much as audio.

Russ and Ricardo, I was wondering if someone was going to make a remark about the barbecue fire pit. Unfortunately, the evergreens have grown over top of the chimmney. I don't dare try and burn anything in there.

Rich, Ed, Joe thanks for the nice words about Shannon. She's a jewel in my eyes. She's 10 years old. My other daughter is 25 so I am holding on to her youth as long as I can.

Hey Carl, we lived in a different city when my daughter was younger and just started dating. We had a younger couple living next door, and we got along great with them. The guy always had some of his buddies around working on race cars in the garage. They would tell my daughters boyfriends that I wasn't the one to worry about, they were..... She used to complain to me about that, and I would just smile. Hell, my daughter is still single at 30. And I still worry about who she goes out with.
