Thanks,
I have a polk sub model psw12 and denon 2307 receiver and do drive it a bit heavy at times. I had to send my amp to polk for repair and when I removed it from the sub case the insulation around the input for the lfe unfiltered input had melted all around the circuits. They replaced the amp and I got it back today and installed in and gave it a go and got a very hot panel on the back of amp. I removed it from the sub and it looks like the insulation is beginning to melt again. I have my receiver set to yes on the subwoofer and it gives me an option for LFE or LFE + Main. I use the Lfe option and have the frequency level set to 80. I use a single coaxial sub cable from the sub out on my receiver to and this is where I am a bit confused...there are two connections for line levels in on my sub one is yellow and sais unfiltered and the other is dual a red and white that sais line in filtered. If the insulation around the unfiltered input is melting should I be using one of the filtered inputs on the sub. -
Sorry but I'm a novice at this and learning as I go.
PSW 12 sub
Denon 2307 ci receiver
4 6" polk bookshelfs
1 125 watt polk center channel
14 gauge wiring
The insulation around my coaxial lfe inputs seems to be melting. Do I need to get a better sub or am I pushing the levels a bit much?
Thanks -
nothing should be melting.. if it is.. turn it off and call Polk Audio customer service.. you don't want to toast that subwoofer and you really don't want to start a fire either..PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
