Replacing Brass Bridge

Hi,

I was just reading another thread that was talking about replacing the brass bridge that connects the two sets of speaker wire inputs on the back of speakers. In my case, would it be good to make a 12-gauge speaker wire bridge go bare wire to bare wire between each set, and then connect to my amp with banana plugs? I would do this with my fronts and center. Any pics of this being done or advice?

Thanks

Just to add, I have two lengths of speaker cable with spades on the ends. I believe this is 10 gauge speaker cable, and it ways a ton  . Would it be possible to replace the jumper with a 3 foot 10 gauge speaker cable, spades to one set of posts, spades to the other, and then in addition to the spades on the bottom set of posts, have a bare wire connection also?

PS Is it ok that the lengths replacing the jumpers are 3 feet long? Or would it be better to go to a certain length?

There are pictures here somewhere and soon to be posted I'm sure. I would suggest you make them short, not 3ft. long.

Ok, so then I would be forced to downgrade to 12 gauge speaker wire without spades. How would I configure this with only bare wire connections to work with? Stuff two lengths of cable into one binding post (one from amp one from top binding post) and then the other end of the small length simply connects to the top posts? Is there any risk at all in doing this?

Sorry, I don't know how to post the pics I took of all this.

You won't notice the change from 10-12. There isn't a risk as long as you connect it properly and it may not be great aesthetically. You could solder your own terminations if you felt ducky or just buy some twist-lock banana connectors from Best Buy.

I have some jumpers pre-made with regular Monster Cable OFC(Twist style banana) and some hardcore jumpers from the MIT Oracle series(soldered with MIT spades) if you're interested. If you want to buy the connectors, I'll mail you the 6" MC OFC lengths for free since they are doing me no good.

I only have a set for a pair of loudspeakers, not an LCR setup. I don't know, $30 shipped?

Well, I'm already planning on putting in some cash to bi-wire. If I decide I need these later or if I get the cash for these too I'll let you know.

Thanks for the offer, that's kind of you.

    :)

IMHO Don't put the extra cash into bi-wiring, put it into a better cable. I tried the bi-wiring with the Canare 4S11 and liked it but prefer the sound of the AQ Type 4 I am using now in a single run.
