I've been wanting to try Parasound's previous TOTL preamp with my HCA-2200ii for as long as I've had the amp. Supposedly one of John Curl's finest and a contemporary of my HCA-2200ii. I finally found one that fit the budget and I should have it next week.

Along with the new pre, I'm going to be using a separate phono stage for the first time. I've been lucky enough to have fairly decent phono stages in all my previous solutions (Integra A-809, Sony TA-F333ESL and TA-E80ES). The seller of the PLD is throwing in a Project Phono Box Mk2 with the deal. Hopefully this isn't a step back in the phono dept.

Anybody ever use the PLD-2k or the PhonoBox? I'll be using the same AT-OC9MLii that's in my sig. The PB is supposedly MC capable, but no adjustable loading. I think its a fixed 100ohm on MC. I currently use 40 ohm with my AT and it seems to be perfect (the AT had a 4ohm internal resistance).

Hopefully this isn't a step back in the phono dept. The specs look about as good as my current setup, so if they are realistic, then I should be ok for awhile. I plan to eventually go up the scale in the phono dept. Not sure what... Monolithic, Phonomena, PassDIY Pearl. Depends on the funds of course.

Anyway, I'm just geeked to match a John Curl amp with a JC pre. Hopefully I'll get a step up in 'synergy'.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...
