A little background for the rest of you's.... A spill in a bathroom vanity from prior owner causes the side and lower shelf to deteriorate which would cause the vanity to be replace some day. Then before I was "Ready" to replace it my wife putting toilet paper under this sink / vanity caused to face of the vanity to fall off with the doors attracted. So I removed the vanity which was 30 3/4" high 21" deep problem they don't make stock vanity of this height so you get 34" which was to high. Before long vanity counter / sink mirror light, plumping, faucet, tile floor, wall paint, new shower curtain, new rugs, new everything, Nightmare.

Ok so I go to HD the sales person seem to "Know what he was thinking about"

Well he was right about todays Faucets they don't have long 3/8" copper coming down with them, and some don't have anything end piece coming down. So I find and feel in love with one of those waterfall nickel faucet with... you guess it no copper coming down. Ok so the guy at HD hands me a compression fitting that would go to a 3/8" PEX line to faucet. So I get home and say ok I think this would work and CUT THE POLY B PIPE (Say OH ****). The compression which was 5/8" on the end for me for the Poly B 3/8" line which looks like 1/2" some old dimensions thing. This compression fitting would work but its to large, so ok lets go some where else start at Ace Hardware bad  next move to a plumbing house. I get there a the man was very helpful called 3 people while I was there trying to get a crimper for me. Some whom he called stated 3/8" don't come that size he states the man is at my counter with it in he's hand! Well he couldn't get a crimper or anything but came up with a compression fitting which will fit my 3/8" Poly B line and connect to the male end of the faucet.

Now the ODD thing every Plumber I talk to ASK ME IF I LIVE IN A MOBILE

Why are they asking me this???????????????

So I live in a 11 year old David Weekly home so next weekend I'm going "Window Shopping" in some new David Weekly homes in the 600k range just to see what they are building with today.

    It`s gotta be...
New Vanity, countertop, faucet, shower,(tiolets is new),etc.
Last time I tried to do a total bathroom job, I ended up gutting , re-seet rocking, and redoing the whole damn thing...all the way to the sub floor !

It is alot of work, and like you said...good luck finding stuff that fits
especially if your trying to keep some of the old stuff and just upgrade, or fix..

CUT THE POLY B PIPE (Say OH ****).

I did, 3 times. That's how many polybutyl pipe ruptures we had before we had the whole house replumbed with pex.

I had to send my ins co. proof of the replumb to stay insured.

Oh, and good luck on the bathroom. I'll be starting on one of ours soon.

3 times  So some questions because I'm always learning...

    1.) Mobile?

2.) Where was the pipes that ruptured? Attic or under?

3.) Where did the pipe ruptured at a fitting or in the middle of a run?

Sorry for all the Q's like I stated always learning.

    No mobile, 4 bdrm 2 1/2 bath 2 story.
2 above the slab foundation, 1 inside/under the slab (hello jackhammer).
all were in the middle or near a fitting, we never had a fitting go bad.

We also got into the pb pipe settlement, and had our replumb done for free. It would've been over 6k if not.

Good luck on your pipe, it's a time bomb waiting to go off. Over half the houses in our neighborhood have had at least one leak and several have had full replumbs.

Just make sure to use concrete wallboard in the shower/tub area, and if you are tiling, go to the ceiling.
I'm going to be doing the guest bath over Xmas, remembering all the things I learned from laying tile for my brother over many summers.

Well there's about 650 homes by the same 2 builders that where built about the same time. I have a Manabloc system by vanguard which is about 12 years old and other then changing out figures I haven't had any problem. I checked my neighbors house out and he has PolyB pipe but not the Manabloc Manifold system, according from him (he knows everyone just about) there's been no problems with any plumbing pipe leaks. I heard that the only really problem where with Shell and Dupont pipes or fittings. So knock on wood other then changing a figure out, I would have an issue. But if they all go leaking without a re-piping this house the value well fall, then again if ok then its ok.

Other then that re-piping this house would be fun all under slap 4 / 3 bath one story.
