Any 2-way radio (basically walkie talkies) folks out there. I am looking for a pair for my son that will use both regular and rechargable battery packs. One name comes to mind and that is Motorola, but have been looking at the Midland GXT700. I can purchase the Midland units with battery packs and headsets for about $100. I would like something that will take a little abuse (the odd 3 foot drop) and some decent range like 2 or 3 miles or more. If anyone has used any decent units let me know. Thanks folks.
Michael ;)

I have some 5-mile Cobras that I got on the cheap a while back. They work pretty well, rechargable, but what really sold me was their customer service - I took them on a canoe trip one time, and at some point, most likely through my own fault, one stopped working. I emailed them when I got home, they said mail it tot his address, within a week they just shipped me a brand new one.

So... my vote goes to a Cobra product. Assuming they're available in Canada.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
