4 Channel Headphones (Quadraphonic)

I just inherited a set of old Sony 4-channel headphones. I have absolutely no idea on how to use these things to the max potential.
They basically have 2 inputs coming out, one for front, one for rear. How can I make these things work without buying a 20yr old 4 channel receiver? :rolleyes:
