I wasn't a real big Opera fan till I got my HT system put together. Now I listen to a lot more classical and opera.

Thanks AP for the link.
My cousin is an opera aficionado, he has season tickets every year to the Met in New York. When he comes here he brings opera dating back to the great Caruso. He at one time brought a recording of a fellow named Mario Del Monaco who was supposed to be Luciano Pavarotti's idol. Del Monaco never made a recoding in the studio and insisted only on allowing recordings of his performances live. I heard him sing the last movement of Pagliacci and was absolutely floored at this guys emotion and power of his voice. GOOSEBUMPS AND TEARS!!!
It is amazing how I've always loved opera but never really learned about it or collected it feverously. I will now.
Here is Del Monaco singing Nessun Dorma.
Here Del Monaco singing Pagliacci. The crowd was so moved that they didn't even wait for the end to stand up and cheer! -
