I'll post pics if necessary, but I'm moving to the 980 today.

This year old 971 is perfect for large displays, upconverts to 1080i via the Faroudja chipset for near HD/Blu-ray quality. It's an excellent budget DVD-A player via analog outs. Includes a nice DVI/HDMI cable(this player is DVI out, not HDMI). I don't believe there are any scratches or blemishes, manual and original packaging.

$100 bucks shipped...

    I plugged the 980 in tonight...there is an upgrade for audio, though the 971 was very good. However, the 971 in 1080i is as good if not better than the 980 in 1080p, 1080i on the 980 is a definite downgrade, at least on my set...not a huge difference and it may vary by source. I've got 30 days to decide on whether to get the 981 or not...but the 971 is a great budget DVD A player and excellent upscaler.
