I need help from somone that is familiar with a Harman Kardon on screen display. I am trying to calibrate the cut-offs of my system (yes, still) and I am wondering:

If I set my fronts to say 40 Hz, Center to 60Hz, and Surrounds to 60 Hz. Then I set surround back to 120Hz ( I don't have any surrounds backs) just so that I could change my subwoofer to "surround back". (The way it is with cut-offs for subwoofers in harman kardons is by setting all of your other speakers first, then setting your sub to either the front cut-off center cut-off or rear cut-off. Did this little trick work? Is it even worth doing?
I think Bananas are awesome fruit.

With your receiver, I wouldn't recommend your little "trick". It's not necessary. Instead of designating a cuttoff for your surround back speakers (which you don't have), just set them to 'None'. This tells the receiver you have a 5 channel setup instead of a 7 channel setup. This is fine, because your movies aren't likely encoded for 7 channel audio anyway, so you're not losing anything. Then, set your subwoofer for 60hz, so you won't have any sound gaps between the center/rears and the subwoofer. However, were it me, I would just set all the speakers to 80hz, then set your sub to 80hz. This takes a load off your speakers and receivers and lets the sub pick up the slack, which it was made to do. Does this make sense? I have a fairly similar setup.

Yes it does make sense...I will give that a try. Made more sense when I first did it anyway...that was late at night:D Would the low pass crossover on the back of my sub do anything in relation to this? Or should I leave it at direct?

    Thanks for replying

    :)

I loved it for the delays and channel levels, but I'm not satisfied with the size and crossovers it keeps choosing. :)

If I am not satisfied with the xover settings that the HK provided, then I adjust the settings by 1 and listen. Until I have it perfect.

To be honest , the HK is pretty close to what I'm loking for. It ussually misses the front stage only by 1 setting.

I always set my sub one setting higher than the highest setting. If my highest is 80, then I set my sub at 100. And then re/run the ez eq in manual mode.

You'll probably only use the crossover on the sub if you hook it up to a receiver without bass management. Your H/K handles the sub crossover, so you don't need to set it to anything particular on the sub. Just turn the dial to the highest settting (or any value above where you set the crossover on the receiver) and you're up and running!

FWIW, I plug my HK into the non-filtered side of my sub and let the HKs xover do the work. My 8's are set to 60, the HK set my csi3 to 100 and my rears rti4 to 200...go figure...So I changed that.

I get alittle uncomfortable having every speaker, of my 7.1, set to different crossover settings. Especially when I cant quite figure out what the HK's goal is. because the auto settings just dont sound quite right. Unless I have just gotten used to the wrong thing. I listen to both 2ch music and 7.1 surround, both off of the HK, so my xover settings for the main L/R will always be lower than the HK's auto settings. But I guess if you have speakers of all different shapes and sizes , the different settings would be prefered.
