Noise Reduction?

This is a question for those of you that have some kind of noise reduction settings in their TV's. Do you use or not? The reason I ask is I've always believed that to get the most detailed and true picture all filters, color enhancers, or noise reduction should be turned off but while watching 300 on Bluray for about 5th the time I got little bored waiting for the battle scenes and got to fooling with the noise reduction setting and when I turned it up to high it really smoothed out the picture without any real loss of detail in the picture that I could see anyway. Do I need to rethink my beliefs about filters and enhancers or just stick with what I've got. Your thoughts please.
