My 5 disc changer has died. I'm looking for a new changer. I'm thinking it might be nice to have something to play some of these new fangled audio DVD's, SACD's, etc. I don't really know much about all the new formats, but I guess it would be nice to have the ability to have something that can play above the standard 44.1/16 resolution.

My system is a 2 channel setup and I have no interest in home theater or multichannel. I'd like to spend less than $500 if possible. Can anyone give me any recommendations or advice?

The best changer available today is the Rotel RCC-1055. It is very close to the sound quality of the Rotel RCD-1072 which is a very good single disc player (I could hear no difference between the two of them).

If you want to go a litttle cheaper the Sony SCD-C2000ES is a good choice. I had one and paid less than $300 for it. It is a good SACD player if that interests you at all.

Something a little different (actually a DVD player, but even a better CDP) is the NAD T572 DVD Changer. NAD is a company that puts as much thought into the audio section of it's DVD players as it does the video. I have one of these and use it strictly for audio. I've never even played a DVD with it.

I got a youngish Asian model, and I kept the box she came with. . . just in case.

It's quick to change the discs, and it's do the dishes occasionally
