Hi all,

After much re-search I am almost ready to buy my amp. many of you have given the rotel 1095 very good reviews.
Don't know that anyone ever compared the Rotel 1095, Outlaw 7700 and the B&K 200.7.
But by looking at individual threads I find the rotel to be at the top of the heap.

The question I have is how to approach buying the amp. Can I ask the local distributor for say 10% off, any other avenues besides ebay and audiogon?

I have never bought use equipment and it ths amp is the most expensive purchase so I think I want to buy new at leat this time.

Please share your ideas to get the prise possible.

thanks in advance as always.

I compared the Outlaw 7100 to the Rotel. I still have the Outlaw.

Whatever piece you decide on, sure you can ask for the dealers best price.

It's just like any other negotiation. The dealer is trying to get the best possible profit and you are trying to get the best possible price. I think you are losing out on a great deal by not considering used, but it seems like security is more what you are lookig for so you will pay a higher price.

If he's the typical salesman he will try and jerk you around a little bit don't bite, walk out if you have to especially if he's uncooperative. Have a 2nd or 3rd place to buy from so you can use that as a bargaining tool. I've had some absolutely wonderful sales experiences and some downright ugly one's.

You are the customer and he's not doing you the favor by allowing you to purchase his merchandise, it's the other way around.

    Good luck

Thanks all. I will consider used. and I keep on considering the outlaw 7700, the 7500 is around 1500 new. very appiling however most of the feeback overall was not as good as the rotel. I was not able to find any feedback from B&K.

I have the B&K 7250 series 2 which is the precursor to the 200.5. Keeping in mind this is the only external amp I have owned, I love it. Very smooth and plenty of power. Would not hesitate to recommend a B&K product and really want one of their Pre-Pros for my system.

I have heard the RMB-1095 at an audio store driving dome Dynaudios and it sounded wonderful too. If I could fit one in my rack I would of considered it. By the way don't be afraid of used, I picked up my B&K used and have not had a problem with it yet.

As far as used, if you can find one you better act fast. I have been looking on ebay & audiogon for about a month and haven't seen any, alot of 1075s but not the 1095s. Also, I went to the closest dealer in my area to listen to the 1068 & 1075 combo and wasn't even there to purchase and the salesman offered me 400 off and said I would have full credit towards any future upgrades for a 3 year period. I wasn't even negotiating with him, so I'm sure I could have gotten him down further.

I don't think that you could go wrong with any of those choices.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Like Doro said, those are all good options. Demo and find the one that you like best if you have the chance.

The dealer can give you at least 10% off of retail. If they say they can't, they're full of it... then walk out and find one that will.

Used is often the way to go. There are more risks, but the benefits in the long run tend to cancel out the risks. The 1095 is a beast though. Not sure I'd want anyone shipping that thing to me unless it was in a custom made crate.

We own the Outlaw 7500 and couldn't be more pleased with it. It powers our LSI sides, rears & center, and we have a carver for our mains, sounds great. We also had a hard time finding ANYONE who had a Rotel amp in stock. So it would have had to be ordered and NONE of the authorized Rotel places were willing to give any type of break on price. We ended up going with the Outlaw 7500 and couldn't be more pleased. Just our $.02

Hi all, I have a follow up question.

If I buy use, how should I request the amp by packed so that it will arrive in good condition?
Do you think the just the original box and package is enough?

I got my amp used and it was shipped in the original box/packing. I prefer the seller at least have the orginal box. The box looks a little beat up but the amp arrived in perfect condition. Having said that if you can get it shipped double boxed, in original box and the original box placed inside a second box, it would be better. Would be worth paying a little extra for if they will do it.
