everything in my truck is polk...and my greatest addition is the mm120 sub. my question is...if i bridge an amp, does it destroy the clarity of it? i cant fit more than one woofer behind my seat and want an amp that can deliver up to 650 rms into 4 ohms. a mono amp would be ideal, i know, but they are all about $1000. if anybody has an idea what to use for an amp, please tell. thanks in advance...

ohh now i understand what you're looking for - i replied to the other post with no idea how many subs u were running...

ok so u wanna run 1 12 inch momo --- and you're right, that sub can take about 600 rms so get an amp that has about 750 so that you can run it "clean" with the gain a little back so that you get headroom (headroom means that the amp is running at less than its max.. so its "relaxed" and not diriving itslef or the sub too hard)

as far as briding ruining clarity -- nope -- only for highs -- for example... I've got a JBL GTS 180x1 that is 60 x 2 w/ 0.05% thd or bridged at 180 x 1 with 0.1% thd... now 0.1 is clean.. its nice.. i dont hear any disotrtion... however my mtx 6304 is 90 per channel stereo w/ 0.3% distortion while bridged its 300 x 1 with 1.0% distortion -- you can hear 1% IN HIGHS but not in SUBS.

you can run a sub off an amp with up to about 1.1 - 1.3% distortion and not even know its distorted at all.

ANYWAY -- here you go for amp suggestions -- gonna mek youre like easy---

    1 momo 4 ohm off 1 amp - goal 750 rms ---
    - MTX 81000d: 750 - 800 x 1 at 4 ohms with 0.75% thd at 4 ohms
price = 350 ebay and mitek does honor their warranties off auctions!!
--- what is also good is if u ever choose to add another momo, u can play them both off this same amp so u dont need to buy another amp -- u will then get about 650 per sub with 2 on it.

    - ALpine 1507 - 900 x 1 at 4 ohms. yes its overkill but its about the same size as the mtx 81000d (physically) and its a LOT cleaner -- thd is around 0.3% bridged or LESS.
--- probably run you about 500 bucks off ebay. -- they dont sell them in stores anymore they're discontinued but polk themselves used a sh*load of these amps in their demo cars -- look at the polk installs page and check out the RED F150 PICKUPwith the 8 or 10 momo's or whatever it is in there -- its all 1507's pushing them.

if you want 600 on the number -- the coustic 300.2 would be you're best bet .. its 600 x 1 bridged at 4 ohms with around 0.75 -1 % thd. its made by the same pple who make mtx. and it probably costs about 250-325 bucks on ebay.

    retail on the 81000d = 699
    retail on teh 1507 = 750
retail on teh coustic = 450
