RC60i install questions

My room was pre-wired for in-wall/on-wall speakers. Unfortunately, the wires are in juntion boxes about 9 feet off the floor. The junction boxes are, of course, nailed to wall studs. Here are the questions:
Are the cam locks on the RC60i at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions or are the on the "corners" (diagonal)?
Has anyone mounted these speakers close to a wall stud (so you can lose the junction box)?

Yes. If you look at the pics it's where the screws are. I'd just cut the hole as close to the stud as you can w/out having the hole over the stud, and get rid of the boxes. There should still be room to use all 4 cam locks. Hope that makes sense.
