Monitor 50

Hi all...I got the chance to listen to a pair of Monitor 50's over the weekend...They sounded pretty good. However, I've read some reviews and they say that the highs are clear, and bright...I thought they sounded a little over powered by the bass and mids...like the highs were sandwiched between the mids and lows. When I pulled off the grill, I found that the tweeter was sandwhiched between two 6 inch drivers...What suprised me is that it sounded that way...I always thought the highs were to be above the in the listening range...Is that right?

Also...what center channel would your recommend? My in-laws bought a Boston Acoustic center with two rear surrounds...The center overpowered the front right and left Monitor 50s...the sound was not balanced at all. But I suspect it might be due to the Receiver.

Thanks...
