Hi...I am needing to buy an spl meter. I have looked on ebay and have found a few different models. Can someone tell me what's a good one. I have found a "NADY ASM 2" analog meter for $63 CDN or a "Galaxy Checkmate 130" digital meter for $52 CDN. Anyone know if either of these is any good and if not point me in the right direction. I have seen others talk of Radioshack ones but we don't have Radioshack here anymore so I have to order on online.

I am looking for one as well. The MCM's summer sale catelog has this

listed as $34.95, but the website still lists at the regular price. From the look, it is porbably the same as the Nady Naday.... Or even cheaper:

I promise I won't bid if you do :-)

if you wanna take a stab at it go ahead. I'll pick one up on a buy it now for a fairly reasonable price....i was just wondering if that NADY would do what I need it to to calibrate my system.Onkyo TX NR 5008 modified by The Upgrade Company

The recording industry standard for general use has been the Radio Shack model. The analog version is generally preferred (but was out of production at least for a while) but I have the digital version and it works great for HT calibration. Cost is about $50 - a bit cheaper for the analog version.
Good luck, Phil -
Should be able to buy at www.radioshack.com. I'm guessing you're in Canada since you gave prices in CDN, so I guess shipping, etc. might cost more than it's worth.

My experience is the same as Phil on this issue.

I have the Radio Shack digital and it works great. There is a used one on ebay. If you are in Canada, advertise on CAM.Michael
