hey everyone. I'm glad i found this forum. I was at a local pawn shop checking out the speakers and I found some Polk audio bookshelf speakers there. After writing the info from the back and checking on this site i found out they were the Monitor5JR series located here:
http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/specs/monitor5jr/
and they looked just like them.
I'm thinking about getting them. They were $70 for the pair, and it great shape to. They will be for my Home theater set up. I'm just starting out, but i was wondering if they would make a good pair of speakers to use as rear speakers on my 5.1 setup. I decided a couple of weeks back that I would use bookshelf speakers for my rear and would stick with the Polk audio. Curently my center speaker is a polk audio from 1995(sounds great) and the rest are the speakers that came with the Home theater package. Here in couple months, if i can find still them, I'm going to buy some of those r50 for my front speakers.
Anyway with all that extra junk said would these be a good choice of speakers to buy for my begginer setup for only $70? I watch movie and play music on my Home theater setup. I'm not a person that has to have everything sounding perfect but would just like good speakers. So, if there not that great for Home theater how about buying and selling them on ebay?? Thanks again.

I have never heard those but for $70 I would do it if they look good and work. Good Luck.Michael

From what I've read in this forum, those are good speakers and worth the price.
I would encourage you to do a search here for them & you'll learn more."Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger -
Those are the 5jr plus series 2 with the sl2500 tweeters.
$70 for the pair is a great price.
They're great for music and surround sound.SRT For Life; SDA Forever!
The SRT SEISMIC System:
Four main satellite speakers, six powered subs, two dedicated for LFE channel, two center speakers for over/under screen placement and three Control Centers. Amaze your friends, terrorize your neighbors, seize the audio bragging rights for your state. Go ahead, buy it; you only go around once. -
For $70 they are worth buying...even if you have to do some work on them.
I have the Monitor 7 series (over 20 years old) and they still sound great.
As for rear speakers these might be to much speaker...depending on your room size and other equipment.
