Using acenters as mains

I would like to know if I can use center speakers as mains. I am thinking about using two Polk CS1s as main speakers. I presently have a Polk CS2 as my center, and Polk m30 for my mains. If feasable, I would use two cs1s(I have a spare cs1,so I would need to purchase another one.)as my main speakers and place the m30s as my rear surrounds. The reason I thought this might work is that the Polk cs1s appear to have the same configuration as the Polk M40s. I`m just not sure about the crossovers and the quality of sound. Thanks for any advice on this subject.

well, no real reason you cant do it, but you will probably want to stand them on end, which might look a little funny. i would think that imaging would be negatively affected by placing them horizontally.

The only problem I see is getting the woofer freq sound maybe limited.engtaz
I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -
It will be extremely limited! Back when I had the Parasound & an Outlaw Mono driving my fronts & center, I would sometimes forget to turn on the Parasound. So just my center was playing. It basically had no bass!
So I wouldn't recommend it.The only problem I see is getting the woofer freq sound maybe limited.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
well, CS1 has not much worse response in the low-end than the monitor 40's he was comparing to. 65Hz (-3 dB) to 57Hz (-3 dB) for the 40. he didnt mention a sub, but i assumed he would be using one. i mean, i use a sub with floorstanders.
