Whatever happened to picture-in-picture? I thought it was a neat feature on TVs a few years ago. Or was it?

I tried using that all the time, it made me cross-eyed and I could never keep track of what was going on.

This was before they used to run the scores constantly. It was a way of checking a score without leaving the current game. Now that they run the scores constantly it has just killed the market for PIP and that is why we don't see them anymore.....blame the networks Early:D

I used to have it on my 32" tube TV, too, but the small screen was too small. I figured it ought to work better on larger screens, maybe even have split screen where you can watch two football games at the same time and toggle the audio between them. There's gotta be a good reason why big screen TV's don't have PIP.

Maybe they can't resolve a good picture with the new technology.

it probably has something to do with needing an additional tuner in your plasma to be able to do it.. and they aren't willing to go that far. but you would think that at least one brand of flat panel tv's would try it. who knows.

My tuner/cable box has it. I wish my TV did though so I could watch more than one source.

My 42" Samsung DLH allows split screen viewing. Only one side can be High Def though.

Still I'm only able to use this feature if I'm running my cable through my cable card in the TV. It's not possible using my HD/DVR cable box from comcast.

I pay an extra $2.97 a month for the card. The split screen is used on Sundays for football. Ocassionally I use the universal remote and watch things directly through the card if the cable remote is far away...like ...across the room...other than this it's not all that useful considering I have a DVR.
