neat gadget to read out amps

I've always wondered how much my system drew in amps from the wall outlet. This gadget looks like it would tell you. The only annoyance I have with it is that it wont tell you a peak value. All that I have found with a peak value really jump up in price. Anyone know of a different (relatively cheap) product that would tell you the peak amps drawn?

Not sure, but I think the Kill-a-watt you mentioned has the ability to show peak value. I might be mistaken though.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

I have 2 of these... http://catalog.belkin.com/PureAV_detail.process?Product_Id=178925 ... Not only do they supply clean AC...they let you know the current draw from any particular bank as well as overall current draw. I was amazed at how much my 58" plasma used when displaying a white screen ( Black..least....tv/movie..average...white screen like google when using the HTPC equaled most )
Very cool seeing the current draw change with music volume...movie effects..etc. Its readout is in amps just like you want....any individual bank or overall system. ecost.com has them for 255 ( I got them at ecost on sale for 154.99 each...sales over though ) http://ecost.com/detail.aspx?edp=2634436The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -

Thanks for the idea. I have a Panamax 5100 though and I've been happy with it so I was thinking of something smaller/cheaper I guess (even temporary). Just an add on. Maybe if I decide to ever switch the Panamax out, I'll keep that belkin in mind. I could've sprung for the Panamax 5400 I suppose, just didn't want to drop the coin at that time.
