Please give me non-bias advice

Hi all,
This is my first post here.
I don't know if it is fair to ask for a non-bias advice, but I will give it a shot anyway
I am building a new home-theatre system in my house. Nothing fancy, begginer to intermediate level. I watch movies, tv, and about 10-20% music.
The options that I have on the table right now after a lot of research and hair pulling negotiations with stores are as follows (all Canadian Dollars):
- Klipsch F2 and RC52 = $630
- Klipsch RF62 and RC52 = $900
- PolkAudio RTI10 and CSI5 = $800
- PolkAudio RTI8 and CSI5 = $700
I would like to know the following:
a) how much more is the RF62 better than the F2? The towers are double the price almost. Are they worth double the money?
b) If we throw the polkaudio into the mix, I am assuming that technically, they will out-do the F2's, but by how much? Am I even comparing items in the same class?
c) how do the polkaudion compare to the RF62?
d) is it worth to look at the rti8 when the rti10 is an option for almost the same price?
This would have been easy for me to judge if I could listen to them in the same place, but unfortunately no store carries even a combination of the three! Smart selling strategy. They never let you listen to the difference, so you only base your judgement on price and listenning to only 1 pair of speakers!!!
Whatever I end up picking will be run by an ONKYO TSXR605.
Anyhow, your help in this matter is GREATLY appreciated.
Regards

- PolkAudio RTI8 and CSI5 = $700 + SVS = winner winner chicken dinner
Look for an older version of an Onkyo 7 series instead of a new 6 series. -
I would agree with PT
if you're in Canada check out SonicBoom audio for SVS subs -
I have no expertise on these speakers, so I'll leave that to the others, but welcome to Club Polk!
If it's unbiased you want, then this forum has to be one of the least biased company-sponsored forums on the internet. I mean, look at the system showcase! Hats off to Polk for that!
Listen closely to what the guys and gals here have to say; they're genuine and without agendaTannoy Dimension TD10, SOTA Star Sapphire, Heathkit W4A's, McIntosh MC2100, Eddie-Current Zana Deux, Singlepower SDS, Sennheiser HD650, Audio-Technica L3000, Sony Qualia 010 -
My experience with recient Klipsch speakers is bad. Can't remember the model number, but I bought a pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers about 6 years ago. They were middle of the line speakers. Had to take 'em back to have the tweeters replaced in one after 6 mos. The other went out about 4 mos. later. The first one replaced went out again about a year later. I gave up on them after that. For that reason, I would recommend the Polks. Very durable and great sounding speakers. I have LSi9's and haven't heard anything that compaires in their price range.

Why do you say rti8's and not rti10's?
The difference is only $100, and from construction and design alone, I would have guessed rti10's hands down!!!
Am I missing something? -
I went Rti8s and CSi5 w/ SVS Pb10 for my first setup ever. Don't do the 8s. They are better for music. If you play a lot of movies, you'll appreciate the extra low end coming from the fronts with the 10s. That being said. Get the 8s if you don't plan on getting separate amplification for the 10s. The 8s sound amazing on a receiver; however the 10s need a little more power.

The 10s will need much more power to have them run as they should. external amplification is your best bet. So we are not saying don't buy them, if you do and plan on running them only on your AVR don't expect them to sound as they should. -

My 8's sound kick a$$ with 200w in each speaker ! -
The only non-biased advice I can offer is to listen to the Klipsch speakers plenty. Most people either love'm or hate'm---there's not too many in-betweens. The horn sound is different....Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

when i first listened to klipsch vs polk. i liked the polk because the klipsch seemed harsher on the ears. make sure you like klipsh sound before going that route. i have the rti10's and csi5 in the front and like them a lot. for that price it seems liek a good deal
-
If you haven't, it'd probably be a good idea to ask at the Klipsch forums as well :-)
-
I did, but they don't seem to be as active as you guys...
I wonder if that is an indication, of what would it be lol -
I find klipche speakers annoyingly bright. Super detailed for short listening sessions, makes your ears bleed in moderate to long ones.
Before you purchase, pick a couple of CD's you like and camp out at the store for an hour or two of listening. If after that time you are not ready to drive an ice pick into your ears, they may be the speaker for you.

I was a huge fan of klipsch...they are a great speaker, but the day I went to purchase the RF82's my friend who worked at the home audio made me listen to the RTI10's.
The RTI10's just blew them away...ever since then, I switched over to POLK. Go with the SCI5 hands down.
I kept my klipsch RSW12! -

+1
I like the Onkyo 702/703 series over the new 605. IMO the 7 series sounds better than the 6 series, hands down.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves
polkaudio 255c-RT Inwalls
polkaudio DSWPro550WI
polkaudio XRT12 XM Tuner
polkaudio RM6750 5.1
Front projection, 2 channel, car audio... life is good! -
thanks a lot for all your input... much appreciated.
In regards to amplification, the onkyo 605 has the video upconversion, while I doubt that the older 7 series has that!
Cheers
