i just got back from a much needed vacation to the Oregon coast. It was so beautiful there.. it always is. My family has been going to the OR coast for over 35 yrs. We don't go every year of course.. but as my folks are getting up there in age.. we thought this would be a great time to restart the tradition my folks started. ;)

check out the pics :D

This is the upper mid part of the coast about 25 miles south of Seaside, OR.

So THAT's the area my parents take their motor coach to when they get out of Colorado! They love the Oregon coast and spend about 8 weeks there a year. One of these days, I'm just going to have to go with them I guess. They talk about an area on the coast where they park the coach and it looks directly into the ocean so the sunsets are amazing.

The Nehalem / Tillamook area is really nice, but if you want to see the most beautiful stretch of the Oregon coast you need to go further south. The stretch between Bandon and Gold Beach is incredible. You also have the Oregon Dunes Nat. Monument, cranberry bogs which are really pretty in the fall (think red), and the Rogue River which empties into the Pacific at Gold Beach. Take a jet boat ride up the river for some great views of the river and attendant wildlife. Elk, deer, bears, eagles, etc. in abundance. Getting away from the coast is nice too. My favorite part of the state is the NE corner in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. They call it the American Alps. Really incredible country. Here's a shot of Eagle Cap.
