OK guys I need some install type help as this sure is not two-channel.

I need to hook up some kind IR eye device in a front wall then run some kind of wire from it to the gear I am putting in a closet, its a full blown rack as in the Reel Time Rig, with a pre for two channel as well as a avr, dvd, cd and so on, I know Niles Audio sells things like this but have never done one myself. The gear closet sits right behind the wall that will hold the IR eye device so its not a long run and I have access.

Anybody who has installed something like this have a product recommendation? Budget is fairly open, I can either use my learning AVR remote or buy a new one, also I would like to run my Luetron light system with it which has a seperate IR remote for each of three light switches. Nothing in the leutron paper shows how to move the dip switches to make them the same code if the codes are in fact different.

How about a RF remote? I've got a URC MX-900 & base station that I don't need any more (the B&K whole house system handles my IR routing, too). Should do the trick just fine for your needs. PM if you're interested.

I would do it with Niles nice stuff, I never did the IR only thing but I think only a cat 5 cable to IR pick up area is all you need.

Ted, I own the Harmony 1000 and it can control both RF & IR devices.

You put the base station in front of the gear (it's got a blaster on the front) or use the IR blinkers to go to individual gear. With the blinkers you can even have certain commands only go to certain blinkers, so if you've got, say, two cable boxes, you can control them individually.

It also does IR, so you can control any gear that's line of sight, too.

    Unc,

Shot you a pm, lets see if yours can work for me, as long as your not using it someone might as well, I think I need it to run six devices, I can see the luetron stuff so I suppose any learning remote could run those without going through the hub repeater.
