wow these things are powerful! Can anyone recommand a good pre-amp to go with this. I wired it straight through from my CD Player to the amp and I'm guessing i'm this close <--> to getting booted out of the apartment.

They are sweet sounding power houses. I recently aquired an Adcom GCA 510 which is the 535 power amplifier section mated to a passive line stage pre-amp all in one unit. It's basically an integrated with out a preamplifier stage. It's a simple 2 gain stage heavily biased integrated amp. It sounds fantastic and it's got more power than a smallish square box should. These were made for the UK market because they tend to choose integrated type amps over traditional seperates or a receiver.
Those 535's tend to mate up well with any pre but to be sure to get the full sonic potential from that amplifer go with something nice.
any of the Adcom pre's without the tuner or Nakamichi, Parasound, Aragon come to mind.

dude. you need a CD player with variable audio outputs if you are going to hook it up directly to an amp. otherwise you'll blow your speakers and your eardrums.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I'm running an Outlaw 950 with my 4 Adcom 535's. Sounds fantastic. I remember George posted that these amps were bench tested at about 80wpc, far above the 60wpc they are rated at.If...

Hmm if the sound is louder without the pre-amp, then a pre-amp is nothing more than a variable resister that does not augment the signal but merely attenuates it.Receiver - Onkyo HT-R340

I have two PSW1000 driven by those 500watt Bash to quicken the process!
Those Bash amps from Part Express really are amazing. Really light weight it's hard to believe all that power is coming from them at 1/2 volume.Receiver - Onkyo HT-R340

I'd recommend the Adcom GFP-565 preamp which can often be found for around $200-300. Another option would be the GFP-555. Both look the same and are both a good cosmetic match for the GFA-535 as well.

Great little amp, holds its own in the rears with my other more powerful, much more expensive amps.
