This has a headphone input and the sound is quite good, but inserting the headphone plug does not cut out the speaker output. So, if I want headphones, do I have to disconnect speakers each time?

No, don't turn the amp on.
Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

jeeez....I knew this would be too obvious....umm...but the preamp is plugged into the swtiched outlet on the amp...not really....thanks

the pre volume level is not very high for decent volume on phones...didnt really check this out yet...
are you suggesting that turning the pre too high without output to the amp will be a bad thing?
