The SDA's have escaped me somehow in my audio career.
have the chance to trade some stuff of mine for a pair of them.
His dog chewed up the cables connectors.
What does the cable do, and can this be fixed ?
Are parts around IF they need fixed.'
Will they play fairly loud, I am in a pretty large room.
I have sub woofers.
How does the 2 b "fit" into the whole SDA thing ?
Any tips, suggestions ?
Looks like I am about to join the "SDA Family " ?

One recommendation for all SDA owners and future SDA owners (and just because it's so damn good) would be to buy the SDA Compendium from DarqueKnight. I can't remember the requirements about buying it off the top of my head but I do believe you have to have 25 posts or more before it will allow you to even send a PM. Maybe he will see this thread and help out with the book. Here is a thread in regards to the Compendium.
Yes, I copied this from another post I just did! I just highly recommend the book.Richard? Who's your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa? Or is it........................Spanky?.................................Sinner. -
Thanks for the Info!
SOMEHOW, I missed out on the SDA's.
I became a high end audiophile, and got "conned" into believing that Polk was "mid fi", LOL
I HAD an old pair of Monitor 5 jr's I think.
I used them for a long time.
They sounded like music.
But then I made the big mistake of going into a snobby high end store that bad mouthed Polk.
I just picked up a used pair of RT 2000P's.
Polk cust service was excellent.
All they had was left the eiropean replacement crossovers.
I put them in, but I actually prefer the stock crossovers.
The stock crossovers need repaired, at least one of them.
The european crossovers are TOO mellow for my big room.
I would put the European Crossover RT 2000P's in my bed room, but too large.
Everyone seems to think the SDA speakers will be a step up compared to the RT 2000P's.
I am an imaging fool, I live for that!
I like a warm,, almost British old school sound.
The perfect speaker, for me, would be a warm sounding speaker that plays pretty loud, and images like no tomorrow. -
You could always get the cap values on the original crossovers and redo them with some new poly caps, resistors, etc and that would make a big difference. That's what most of us in here seem to do the moment we get "new" Polk speakers!
Keep looking for SDA's in your area as you really don't want to have them shipped. Too many things can go wrong. If you get a pair without the cable, that's an easy thing to come up with or build. Just make sure you give them plenty of quality power to open them up and do them justice.

The 2B is an entry level floorstanding SDA speaker. You will need the intereconnect cable to realize the full potential of SDA's. I don't know if the dog chewed cable can be fixed without seeing it, but you can always make something that will work. All parts are available except the cable and the passive radiator.
Tip: Polk sells a new type tweeter, the RD0194-1, which replaces the stock SL2000's. It's a much better tweeter.
Yes, they can get loud. Of course, the better the source and power, the better they will sound.Political Correctness'.........defined

I know a guy in Austin selling a pair of really nice 2Bs (with original box, manual and cable) for $175. I'd buy them but I already have too many speakers and need to cut back on what I have already.
