My Pro-ject tube box has ...yes, two tubes; is there a way I can break them in without having to play vinyl???? I could always put them on my pre (same 12AX7), but electronics in the phono stage also need break in....

Your most welcome Ricardo. I connected an old CD player to my phono stage to burn it in.

Welcome to the world of vinyl. Beware, as vinyl can be a deep dark rabbit hole.;)

The only thing you want to be careful about is overloading the phono preamp. The output of most CD players is something like 2.0v, phono stages are designed for 4mv. Unless you have a CD player with adustable output (and set it to the lowest), I'd avoid that. Another option is to use a small CD Walkman type (or Ipod) and make a cable with RCA ends. Set the volume to low and let'r rip. The sound won't be properly equalized, but it will do a decent job of breaking in.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Valid concern, I suppose, but you and your fan club need to do some research. Maybe start at the Granite Audio site.

This is a great time to go through some vinyl you don't want to listen to critically.

Thanks for the offer; the setup is actually sounding really good, so I'm really not in a hurry to break it in; it will come eventually. :)
