    makes sense, I got my first cd player 19 yrs ago.

    I had the first CD player sold at Tweeter, it was the Sony. My wife got it for my birthday and paid $1100. There was only one other model sold which was the Philiphs. When I heard the demo my jaw dropped. There was NO LP surface noise.

    The problem was there were only 10 CDs to buy at that time.

    My wife still uses that CD player.

    amazing.. think what $1100 would buy now in a CD player? :D

    And if I remember correctly there was very little plastic.

    That's a fact! My Rotel RCD-855 was a solid steel brickhouse! It just died back in the first week in June as did the matching preamp. But they gave 17 yrs of good & faithful service!
