Subwoofer Newbie Needs Help!

I am a very inexperienced stereo installer and need help. I recently bought my first sub, a 15" Orion with dual voice coils, which came with a box and a Blapunkt 125x2 Amp. I know, nothing impressive, but the price was in my budjet. I have no idea how to hook them up for optimal performance. I currently have each coil wired seperately to each speaker output, but I wonder it there is more I can get out of it. And anyone with any input on what the settings for the switches on the amp can do? One is a bass boost, another sets for mono, stereo, and one or two more options, and I think there are two others, one having something to do with a passthrough maybe? See, I am very lacking in the technical expertise most of you have here and really need your help. Thanks!!
