Hey guys, heres a question for you I was talking about with friends. If you had a shoestring $1500 budget and were putting together a 2 channel system what would you do?
We were talking just
2 speakers
somethig to power (seperates or integrated or tube)
cd player
cables
I was thinking used
lsi7's or totem dreamcatchers
Jolida SJ 502 (integrated)
jolida jd700 (cd player)
BLue jeans cables and interconnects
Tyler accoustics Model 1 speaker stands

Stone Image Audio Rothschilde A2s ~$800 used
Squeezebox ~$200 used
Peter Daniel's Audio Sector NOS DAC ~$175 used
Tim Rawson Gainclone Integrated ~$200 new
Heartland Cables ~$125 new
TOTAL ~$1500
If I had $1500 to spend on a complete nice 2ch system that is what I would get in a heartbeat. -
Put it in the bank and save some more.Michael
In the beginning, all knowledge was new!

1500?
Pfffft. You could put together a reference system on that.
Dynaco A-25's - ~100 bucks
Arcam CD73T / Jolida JD100 ~ 500
MF A3.2 - integrated - 800
That leaves 100 bucks, enough for a pair of Signal Cable IC's and speaker cables.
That would be a damn tough system to beat. I know I could do better, I'm just thinking off the top of my head.

$1500 is a lot! Nice integrated tube amp for $700, any number of speaker types for around $400, $150 Oppo DVD/SACD/DVD-A, home made cables... Should leave enough left over for a trip or two to starbucks and a handful of CD's.Vinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want...
