I have these on my surrounds instead of the bare wire because I noticed that the bare wire ends were oxidizing. So I cut off the section of oxidized wire , treated the ends with a little Pro Gold and used the Monsters.
Basically the wire feeds in and you fan out the ends over the lip of the bottom section of the banana plug and then screw in the top half over the fanned ends, sealing it inside the plug for the connection. I originally got them to keep the wires free from oxidation and degrading the sound over time.
Sound plan or should I be flogged for using Monster stuff? Discuss amongst yourselves.

The Quick Lock system is way more versatile than anything else offered by the competition and pricing is finally falling into earthly realms. They sold for $60-$80 a pair 2 years ago. One of my favorite "M" offerings.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

I have used the M and agree they are easy to use, still have some in one of the rigs, I am however moving to the Dayton Banana's from Parts Express on the new Rig. At around eight bucks for two pair I cannot discern any difference when I listened to them vs the monster.

I have both these and the Daytons that reeltrouble mentioned. To me there is no audible difference, but I like the M much better as far as "installation". They also seem to have a tighter connection to my speakers and AVR. The best part for me was that I got them for about $7 for two pair when a local Radio Shack went out of business.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden

Even when using these, the wires will still oxidize. You just won't be able to see it. I have a pair that I purchased for ease of switching/testing purposes. No noticeable difference in sound here. I'm not a big fan of convenience when it comes to audio, so I don't use these in my rig anymore.
When I switched from these to a silver soldered pair of fluke nanner's, now that's when I heard an improvement. I would recommend going that route if you can find someone that can solder the nanner's on for 'ya. That way you never have to worry about oxidation again.
In fact, since your system is down, if you want to send me your speaker wire, I'll solder some of the extra Fluke nanner's I have lying around. I also have Cardas silver solder that I can use.
Anybody want the pair of Monster quicklocks that I have? [free] They are just gonna go into the trash otherwise.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
I'll take 'em if nobody else has spoken up...and pay shipping of course.
I'm new to the board...just not new to Polk. I've had a set of SDA 2B's for 16 years and still love them!

Oh boy, it looks like I have gotten myself in a quagmire. Mr. Natural, first off welcome to the forum. I should have stated that those members with the ability to PM on the forum can have them for free. A member of CP can start PM'ing after either 10 or 25 posts, I'm not sure. When you get to the point to where you can PM me with your address, I will be happy to send them to you free of charge.

Thanks for the generosity, and please accept my apology for being opportunistic here, I'd had a few beers last night! If someone here would like them I'll gladly step aside. I've been tinkering with the connectors the last couple of days and saw that post and I guess I just popped off without thinking. I just upgraded my amp to an Adcom 545 II so I've just been trying to get everything right. I've really enjoyed combing through here about the Polk line while trying to find a friend of mine something in the SDA series, he loves my 2B's.
Thanks again,

Oh, boy. I never in a million years would have thought there would have been so many folks wanting these nanner's. Just to let everybody know, Avguytx was the first to have PM'd me with his addy along with the request. He gets the nanner's.
On a separate note: Mr. natural, stick around. You will find this to be a helpful forum chock full of extremely useful knowledge [keep chuckling down, please:rolleyes: ] and not so knowledgeable information. But it's fun nonetheless.
Sorry for the derail again, Darla. Now, back to our regularly scheduled topic......~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
