im doing my friends jeep, he has a grand cheroke, i wanted to know how many watts would give him decent sounding bass out of his db212-2, he doesnt need anything amazing, just clean sounded, i want a wattage #, im going to be installing a 4 chan in his car to run 2 pioneer 4 ways in the front and then the 2 subs.

    Might be easier (and better) to go with two amplifiers- a two channel for the fronts and a monoblock for the subs. To power the db212-2 enclosure to it's full potential, you'll want something that does 720 clean watts RMS @ 2 ohms or 360 watts to each sub at 4 ohms.

    There's a good chance if you go with a four channel solution, you'll either have too much power for the fronts or too little for the subs.

    i thought i made it clear, he doesnt need them powered to the full potential, he just wants some extra bass, he got the bb212-2 because i found it for 100 bucks for him brand new.

    you need more power than that kenwood. look at the specs of different amps and look for something that is putting out at least 700 watts rms at 2 ohms.

    If you want to underpower them, why don't you just get a different sub that is meant to handle the wattage you can afford to throw at them?

    Running 500 watts to them will be fine.

    You wont get the best performance out of them but youll get a good bit. Just dont overdrive the gains or volume.

    yeah seriously, i worked at circuit city at the time and they have a price match dealio and refused to do it because it was so much under cost. like i got lectured about telling my friend to get it from us when it was such a crazy deal. But yeah The entire box in a sealed polk box with all the stuff, it wasnt factory reconditioned or anything.
