why is the much psw404 "better" than the psw550?
i heard or came across an opinion that the 404 was significantly better than the 550. several others were in agreement and the claim semed to be accepted as common knowledge. i've not heard either of them personally, but i'm wondering what it is that makes this true. looking at the product pages for each, they seem roughly comparable.
im not up on the latest speaker technologies and am wondering if there is something new in the 404 that would translate to "better".

The 550 uses an 8" driver...
Granted, the 404 uses a Hi-Roll 10" - which basically equates to about... 6-7" of cone area.
In general respect, they are pretty much on the same playing field, except for the fact that the 404 has the ability to extend much farther with the larger surround. However, they are pretty even as far as cone surface area
The 404 has more power and low frequency response though
Things to consider- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
