Hey Folks,
Looking at getting a set of the B-Tech BT77 Mounting Brackets for my monitor 40s.http://www.crutchfield.com/S-y06O62HZ0JC/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=15800&tab=review&i=121BT77B#TabI have been looking at the reviews, and they are good excluding the fact that the speakers have to be screwed to the bracket in order to be tilted down toward the floor. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not crazy about the idea of putting screws onto my speakers. Has anyone had any experience with the B-Tech line? If so is there a way around the screws? or does anyone know of some better wall mounts that don't require you to screw your speakers to them? They are going to be mounted about 7' off of a tile floor, so I sure as hell don't want them falling. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I tried to use the BT77's without screws and after 4 years 1 of my R20's fell out of the bracket and smashed into pieces. If you remember to tighten the screws on the speaker clamp every few months you should probably be okay, but I got over it and used screws on my replacement speakers (RT35I's). If you plan to remove the speakers from the brackets someday and use as stand alones you might not want to go that route since you may have some tiny new ports in the sides of your speakers. Now that I think of it, the screws may just bury into the wood and not into the open enclosure itself. Anyway, I didn't want to lose another pair of Polk's to a 7-8 foot fall so in the screws went.

I have these mounted 7' up or so w/a set of LSi9 Rear Channels. The clamps should be enough to hold the speaker in place w/tilt. You don't have to use screws, they come w/pads that you stick to the sides of the clamp and the friction will hold them strong. I took McLoki's advice of using a ZipTie around the rear power port and the speaker bracket for added safety. Worked like a charm... These aren't even recommended for the size of the Lsi9 but they work great! Don't hesitate w/the B-Techs, you will not be disappointed.

I was going to recommend a Zip tie around the power port (if there is one) on the back of your speaker and then around the arm coming off the wall. I guess my suggestion preceeds itself... :D

Edit - The also sell stuff called blue tac (it is like the puddy that they use to hold up posters) you can use that instead of the pads that come with the bracket to help hold the speaker in place. (I would still use the zip ties though...)
