Subwoofer recommendations for small enclosure

Hi y'all, I am trying to decide whether to purchase a custom-made enclosure for my vehicle...the box is sealed, made for a 10'' sub, 0.62 cuft., 5.1'' depth, and constructed out of fiberglass.

Now comes the hard part. I've already begun looking around for a subwoofer but I'm finding that the .62 cuft of airspace is my biggest limiting factor... I would just move on to a larger enclosure but I'm deadset on only using the area for which this enclosure is designed for.

I run a Kenwood excelon ddx8019 and plan to power the sub w/ an Alpine PDX-1.600. I have Polk SR6500s front and rear running off an Alpine PDX-4.150. I'm looking to get some recommendations for the best 10'' sub, given my parameters. Unless I'm totally SOL w/ the limited airspace. Any ideas? :confused:

    The problem isnt the interior volume. There are plenty of 10" subs that will work well in a .62 box.

    The problem is the depth. 5.1" is quite small. Most 10" subs will require 6" depth.

    pioneer makes some very shallow ones too.

    Thanks for your input and suggestions. It looks as though the kicker comp vt would be a good fit but kicker suggests an enclosure between .8 and 3 cu. ft. so I guess I'll have to rule that out as an option. I'll look into Pioneer's sub offerings.

    From another forum, I've gotten recommendations for a Peerless 10" XLS sub. Any thoughts or comments on this sub? Thanks again for your help :cool:

    An Image Dynamics IDQ10 would be happy with that airspace, the problem being it's 5.25" deep...a simple spacer ring made from 1/4" to 1/2" mdf would solve the problem and allow you to mount a nice SQ sub.

    I've heard the IDQ10s, nice sound quality with fairly good volume. They don't require huge amounts of power for decent output. To match one up with an amp properly, look for something that does 250-300 watts RMS and set gains properly.

    Two different voice coil configurations- the dual 4 ohm coil version goes well with a monoblock amp that does 250-300 watts @ 2 ohms, while the dual 2 ohm version can be wired for a 4 ohm load if you intended to run a bridged 2 channel that isn't stable to 2 ohms.

    The Polk Momo 10" (4 ohm SVC or 2/8 ohm DVC) could also be made to work, and at 5 3/4" depth you'd need a thicker spacer. I think the Momo wants .66 cubic feet, but stuffing the enclosure with polyfill would get you in the ballpark.

    Look at Memphis Audio's "M Class" line of subs. They are designed for shallow installs in closed or open boxes.
