Installation of pre-construction brackets

Anyone have some tips for installing pre-construction brackets for in-ceiling speakers? I'm going to install some for 2 pairs of TC80is. I'm a little confused how the drywall is installed with the "lip" that hangs down around the speaker opening.
Any pointers would be helpful. Thanks.

Well I went to install my pre-construction brackets this afternoon. Turns out there is a HVAC duct running in the joist where I was going to place the surround back speakers. So it looks like I'd have to move them back. Anyone think they would be positioned too far behind the seating area?

On your drawing it looks like you have the measurements in feet? If it is to scale this a huge room? If you meant inches then your positions would seem to be ok, some folks have the back surrounds right next to each other. Having them up high over the listening postition's heads level as you do is a plus. You are going to be able to balance the sound coming from them with the rest of the speakers as far as volume goes.
By construction bracket do you mean a performance enclosure? Polk does make them along with construction brackets to help center the speaker? If you are not using an actual performance enclosure I would recommend you do. You would install the perfromace enclosure level to the framing in the soffet/ceiling, then the drywall goes up and the speaker slides through the hole in the drywall.
Hope this helps a bit.

I wasn't planning on the performance enclosure but I could probably come up with something. The speakers are placed in the ceiling between the I-joists, which are spaced at 19" on center and are approx. 12" deep. The LC specs state a recommended volume of 1.4 cf, and for a 2"x12" stud wall a spacing of 15". I could probably put some blocking up at that spacing for each speaker. Is it really going to affect the sound that much?Display: Mitsubishi 52" WD-52527

I'll do the surrounds, but not the rears unless you have the energy to do blocking. As far as sound quality for your rears it wont make any diff coz you'll only hear in seconds. IME.
Reeltrouble1 made a suggestion, place your rear closer.Godspeed,

Thanks for the suggestions.
I can't move them closer because there is duct work running thru the joist. It looks a little off on paper, but when you actually look at it in the house it looks okay.
I can't wait to install and watch a movie! Now what movie to pick?!Display: Mitsubishi 52" WD-52527
