New Denon 3805 and Video Issue, any help?

Well, finally I´ve received the AVR after a long waiting. Was an upgrade from a Sony STR-DE975 and was a little skeptical about the difference, but I must say that exist a big difference (Luckily).
Now, I can enjoy almost every mode and setting. The 5/7 channel is useful and sweet to listen. I figure the Denon is very sensitive to the quality of the source too. In DD is brilliant, powerful, and accurate. Very impressive!
The tuner is very solid, the Sony could tune 12 stations and this receives 36!!
Overall is an excellent upgrade.
But now, a few questions to you, folks:
1- Does anyone use the manual EQ? Any advice to tweak this out? I think the sound in manual is more neutral. But are 8 bands and its very difficult to tune?
2- The image is not so good, how can I improve it? I think the speaker level need to be adjusting, but how? Now the FR is 0.5 the FL 1.5 and sub is about 6 db. The distance from sweet spot is 8´to L R and 9´to sub. I really need advice on this setting.
3- Can I set the speaker level one time and nevermore change that. One fits all???
And the LAST: When I connect my cable box to composite in the AVR (Just has yellow jack) and try to upconvert, the image starts to flick and B/W. So I need to go without upconvert and monitor through composite. The disavantage is run another cable to TV and switch to that input every time I want to watch TV. Any help?
Enough for today and thanks for all the learning.
Cheers

So, the 1970's technology isn't working too good with your new AVR?:)
If the best your cable box has is a composite out, its time to swap it out with a current box. -
Is a decoder that my cable company install last month. Digital decoder (up to the box) but just has composite. I saw in the net any issue related to something called "Macrovision". Have you ever heard about that?

I never had any issues with my Denon with composite video inputs==>component output. You may want to try contacting Denon.
I never used the manual eq but did play around with the automatic. With my old speakers, I thought that the "flat" setting did nice things for them and the rest of the settings sounded awful. With the speaks I have now, they sound best with no eq applied to them at all, ymmv.
Speaker levels and delay/distance can be adjusted with the remote or front panel, it's in the manual. Once you set it it will stay althoughyou can customize it for different sources. You will need a sound db meter to do it properly, it is notoriously difficult to do by ear. The other option is to get the mic and let the Denon set it all automatically. I have found that it is very accurate for levels and distance but the eq you will have to judge for yourself"The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage." Thucydides -
Just had issues converting tv (composite), upconverting another sources no problem. Seems to be any flag in the cable signal, since for two seconds the image is ok, but then starts to flick.
I found the "flat" is the win. But never try to tweak the manual yet.
