Hello,
I have talked with a very nice person, who lives in Manhattan, NY who has a pair of SDA CRS that he would like to go to a good home for a reasonable amount of money. I don't believe the money is the object, more that they are appreciated. They would have to be picked up at the owner's office. Send me a PM if you are interested. I don't know if they are a CRS+ or not, he says they have been put on the shelf and never touched and work perfectly.

    Hello,
It is doubtful that he would be willing to ship them outside of New York. When I first talked with him he wanted to know what charity he could donate them to. I said that our Club Polk members are devoted SDA enthusiasts and would enjoy them and offered to put potential owners in contact with him. He sounds like a nice guy who wanted to make some effort to have the speakers appreciated.

Does that mean you are sending MINE back to me? Seriously, for my ears, I am enjoying these LSi9s so much, I don't want other speakers for awhile. They and the CRS both have great characteristics, but different.

Still waiting for a call back.

It won'tt be my first pair. I have original SDA-2's. I want to use the CRS's for rears. I think CRS's would be perfect.

    What do you think???

I'm using a pair right now for surrounds...I've tried it with and without the cable. It might not be correct with the SDA turned on, but it's timbre matched and pretty aweinpsiring...actually by swapping R for L and putting the SDA driver's on the inside they sound like conventional surrounds...if you have them set correctly you get the double wide rear soundstage with non localized effects (cuz you can hear them from both channels).

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO

Joe, this was my thought several months ago untill I was set straight. The SDA speakers do not work well as rears.

Think about it, if you don't use the IC cable then the SDA drivers don't do anything. (you'll be wasting half of the speakers)

If you do use the IC cable then the SDA effect will be backwards.

And also I don't think Surround information was ever designed to be played through SDA's

    Something would not be correct.

You need a Pair of LSiFX's. Period. That's it.

    Sal

    Actually you're wrong.
The sda effect can still be used in surround sound remember that ac3 or dolby digital uses discrete channels. As long as the rear channels are discrete you can use stereo speakers in the rears.
This setup is used on the srt system.

    I thought it would work.

I read some other posts a while ago that dealt with SDA's for surround sound.

Thanks for the explanation Ron Temple and ESAVINON.

The guy is away so he is going to call me monday.
