What do you guys think the loudest single Subwoofer is. I have a few ideas.

1. The Kicker Solo X 18 Inch. 5,000 Watts RMS
2. MTX Jackhammer 22 Inch 6,000 Watts RMS
3. Earthquake Audio Holees 15 Inch 7,000 Watts RMS
4. SoundStreem **** 18 Inch 10,000 Watts RMS

you looking to purchase? is sheer volume your goal? i know a guy that used a pair of peavey black widow speakers (pro sound reinforcement) in a homemade ported box. looked like flabby ****, but those speakers have something like a 98dB efficiency. i wont comment on SQ, but it does seem that the vehicle began leaking during downpours, whereas it was watertight before. they dont dip as low as virtually any "real" car-type sub, though.

i cant imagine a 22" sub could possibly sound good, or be accurate. there are threads about some of the subs you mention.

I'm not looking to buy any of those. Funny you should talk about Black Widows though. I have a 15 inch black widow in my car right now. I'm only giving it 150 watts RMS and it's louder than most stuff with twice the power. The sound is pretty good but it doesn't go as low.

you should check out the Termpro forum if your looking to get into SPL.

By the way i believe the loudest single sub in competition currently is the DD Z series. I believe their just a few db short of hitting the big 180 :). (ofcourse this aint no daily driver type system).

Other subs you might want to look inta are Fi, Cactus, Hifonic's new Maxximus, Atomic, T3, etc.

yep the upper-end Pioneers are supposed to be really good too :)

(but to give ya an idea - thats many pioneer subs and i believe over 50 pioneer amps used in that install while the guy with the DD Z sub is using a single sub and 2 amps :). Aint that just mind-blowing :))

i had a atomic apxx 4" coil on 6krms and it was really loud, was a daily driver. that sub is up there with the top single subs.
i would just do more subs than a single loud sub, its easier, usually more power handleing, more motor strength, more cone area
