bass mgnt configuration challenge with amp(s)

This past week some new equipment. After reading through the Polk archives about bass mgnt, I am pondering the best resolution for bypassing my sub output on my avr 3300 to avoid the double filtering.
The problem is I will be using the left and right pre-out for my GFA-555 amp.
I dont think I should run the GFA-555 amp to my powered sub and then output them to my LSi9s but I am not sure how this should be done.

oh yea, another twist on this is I have dual subs & dual 2-channel amps.

You could either use RCA Y adaptors on the preouts of the reciever ,or if the sub has hi level (speaker wire) input then you can run an extra parrallel set of speaker wires from the binding posts on the Adcom to the sub.The wire only needs to be 18 guage and this arangement will not put any extra load on your amp.

I tried to stop using the sub pre-out to avoid the double filtering, and at least for my setup I came to the conclusion that I couldn't do it.

My sub has a single line-level input, so I couldn't go the "polk way" of using speaker-level inputs. I tried hooking up the sub to the pre-FL and settings the fronts to Large, but could not get any kind of good integration.

In the end I just hooked the sub back up to the sub pre-out, set the speakers to small, 80hz crossover, and jacked the sub up to 160hz. Sounds great and i'm just going to try and forget that double filtering even exists.

I use the Y adapter so I can control the crossover with the AVR. I have to different subs so the each can do what they do best.

are you using the y-adapter like GV#27 recommended or are you using the y-adapter on the sub pre-out on the receiver?

both subs only have rca inputs. could i use the y-adapter off of the receiver pre-out and still get the same benefit. would this defeat the benefit of running the front speakers from the sub outputs?

You run the pre outs Fronts L/R of the AVR to the amp for running the Fronts and run the sub pre to the subs

If you have 2 rca's on the sub for input run a y adapter 2 male 1 female rca, off the AVR pre sub out run a Y adapter 1 male 2 female. run a single male to male rca cable to each sub.

Hmmm. pretty interesting. That appears to be my only option right now. i guess this means i cannot do the Polk way of avoiding double-filtering by not using the AVR pre sub out and turning my bypass up to high setting and fronts set to large.
With an amp in the equation, I dont know how the Polk recommendation could possibly work. I am sure somebody has implemented it with an amp before.

    1. Front left/ right pre outs to Adcom rca inputs.
    2. Adcom speakers wires to LSi9's
    3. AVR speaker outs to to the side channels and center channel speaker
    4. AVR sub pre out 1 male rca to 2 female rca's (Y cable)
DT Sub rca input 2 male rca to 1 female rca (Y cable)
Velo Sub rca input 2 male rca to 1 female rca (Y cable)
run single male rca to male rca between AVR and DT sub
run single male rca to male rca between AVR and Velo sub
    5. ???? I don't know your plans for the polk 8 or the Adcom 535

sounds like i need to go get some more cables.
i'm still digesting your latest recommendation.
will probably have more questions about it tomorrow.
i think i am going to just put that 8" sub in my bedroom with the older system.

Mox, don't worry about "double filtering"; it's easily avoided. The best way is if the subs have a separate LFE input which totally bypasses their internal filter. You indicate that yours don't have that, so simply do what Tim mentioned: set the filter frequency controls on the subs all the way up(150Hz or whatever)so that at that frequency there won't be any significant interference with the 80Hz crossover that your 3300 is doing. Feed either the L or R input(they're joined inside the sub amp, so it doesn't make any difference) on each sub from the sub out on the 3300, using a Y-adaptor.

    hey,
after taking a closer look, the velodyne does have a dedicated LFE input(s). It has 2 rca inputs and 2 rca outputs with speaker wire inputs as well.
The bizarre thing is it only has a volume control and on/off button and thats it.
