The car audio/12V scene is as concerned with SACD as I am with turning myself into a woman.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Not necessarily my brother. 5.1 surround is all the rage in car audio.

I know of several people with legit 5.1 systems in their rides. Its primarily for movies and to show off all those "pimp" monitors in the headrests but I think there very well could be a nice little niche for 5.1 music. I for one would be interested.

Also several car makers are coming out with true 5.1 in their OEM systems.

I'm not referring to a 5.1 mix as I've seen quite a bit of that.

SACD in 2 channel home audio is outstanding. However, in a car application..................

    Can you hear the........................?

Better definition is better definition. Sure cars are more noisy but if sound dampened correctly, you'll hear a drastic improvement. I could care less about the 5.1 side of SACD or reg DVD's, I just want SACD stereo....mmmmmm
